We have and still are organising our Literacy Volunteers back  into schools to resume their amazing work, in agreement with our member schools.  Keep well and safe everyone.

We would very much like to invite you to attend the 

Literacy Volunteers Annual General Meeting (AGM)

(for accounting year 2020-21)


Thursday October 14th 2021

at 10.00am – 12 noon on Zoom

The link will be sent to all those registered to attend on the Monday of that week

Our AGM will include:

Reviewing the 2020-21 year

Manjit Sahota from Poets against Racism will be discussing The Power of Poetry and Spoken Word – exploring the role poetry can play in explaining and changing the world!

Electing new trustees and re-electing those standing down and asking for re-election

Agreeing our annual accounts and auditors for the next year

Sharing our plans for next few years

Caroline Sence, from the national charity Read for Good, will be telling us about their organisation and how they promote Reading for Pleasure.

Literacy Volunteers – We currently work in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Our Volunteers help children in early years settings, primary and secondary schools to have fun developing their reading and communication skills (see Volunteers page for more details).

  • WE give you training, support and travel expenses.

  • YOU get the pleasure of making a real difference to a child’s life.

and to complement our mission

  • We now deliver courses and workshops in literacy related subjects, direct to a wide variety of schools, children’s centres and community organisations.
  • Story Sharers Programme – Sharing books and stories with individuals or groups of children, in nursery, pre-schools and primary schools (see Volunteers page for more details).
